Frequently Asked Questions

CCS9000 Comprehensive Communication System

What communication paths can the CCS9000 use?
The CCS9000 Comprehensive Communication System utilizes Data-Linc Group technology over radio and dial-up /leased line paths. A single medium or a combination of media can make up the system. For instance, a remote dial-up station can connect to a dial-up remote CCS9000 that in turn can connect with system equipment via radio or leased lines. This use of multi-path communication gives the monitoring system the utmost flexibility.

With how many remote devices can I communicate?
You can have as many remote devices in your system as you need. Each CCS9000 has four communication ports. Although you can only communicate with a single port at a single site at one time, you can easily and quickly switch from one port to another and one cabinet to another with the Data-Linc Group CONNECTTM software.

Can the CCS9000 communicate to remote devices in real time?
Yes. The CCS9000 connects to a selected individual port on a selected remote CCS9000 and maintains a real-time connection with that device.

What kind of interface is used at the remote site?
All of the CCS9000 remotes have 4 DB-9 male DTE ports. When the port is activated by the CONNECT software, the transmit, receive and ground signal lines are enabled.

Can the CCS9000 talk to all remote devices at the same time?
No, The CCS9000 is designed to establish a connection to one specific device at a time. The CONNECT software will, however, allow you to quickly and easily switch from one port to another and one remote to another.

How does the CONNECT Software work?
Both Traffic Connections, the software program specifically for traffic management, and CONNECT software use a large data structure of scripts. The scripts are used to configure, connect, verify and disconnect the system. A click of the mouse provides destination selection and connection commands for the Comprehensive Communication System (CCS) hardware. After installation of the CCS hardware, remote modem/switch types and remote location port connections are entered into the software program's database. All connection instructions are automatically generated by the software, and the system is then ready to operate. Once the connection to the remote port is made the software continues to run allowing port/location changes while permitting other communication software to establish connection to a remote device (i.e. PC, PLC, Controller).

At what data rate (speed) can the system communicate?
The CCS9000 system will communicate at all the following baud rates:
Dial-up/leased line: 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200
Radio: 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, 115200

What power supply/voltage is needed at the remote site?
The CCS9000 family of remote units requires 9VAC power. Data-Linc Group provides a wall mount 9VAC transformer with all of its CCS9000 remote units.

What power supply/voltage is needed at the Master site?
The CCS9000 family of Master units requires 12VDC power.
Data-Linc Group provides a wall mount 12VDC transformer with all of its CCS9000 Master units.
